What’s Up Weekend? 9 – 15 October

Flavours we’re digging this week? Nordic feelings (what’s new?), more non-techno in Berghain and a pop-up shop of the edible kind thanks to Pieoneers and Billy. Variety? Got some. Kisses X

Below are some of the events we are recommending for the week ahead in Berlin. Each of them is either highlighted with a:

Bron loves it! – more electronic, than not.
Lucy loves it! – more indie boy band/ pop vibes/ not techno.
Everyone loves it! – 2.5 words: shit’s ACE

***DISCLAIMER: these aren’t the only discos that are going on – they are just the ones that stand out.

FLUX BAUEverybody loves it!

We got all over their launch party a few weeks back, and Lucy’s already big upped this one over here – however if you were sleeping, say hallöchen to Ja Ja Ja, the London-based Nordic music clubnight (and website) making it’s debut TONIGHT in Berlin. Coming to us every second Thursday of the month at FluxBau, the night will feature a selection of up and coming talents from the northern euro regions – and if this opening number is an indicator we can expect pretty delicious things. Round 1 will see femme of the moment/Lucy’s new BFF Naomi Pilgrim lead the charge with her sassy, neo-soul, pop thang, alongside Norwegian Indie Pop (and good looks) from Alfred Hall and in the Danish corner, Blaue Blume. Lucy’s pretty excited, and if Scandinavians and/or pop is your preference, you probably should be too. Tickets are available in advance €5 for members (sign up free here), €7 for non, and doors open at 20:00. Get there early – this should be another popular one.

BERGHAIN /  PANORAMA BAR – Bron loves it!

Berghain was completely lifted last Friday with a sea of bass-y madness thanks to The Bug, Mala and co. Loved that and/or missed out and want more/some of these non-techno flavours? The rowdy vibes should continue this week with a mainfloor takeover from CTM offshoot Polymorphism, presenting Berlin based club-night Janus. It’s a pretty large and delicious line-up, with Janus residents and Berlin Current members M.E.S.H., Lotic, and Kablam being joined by TCF, boychild, DJ HVAD, Total Freedom and Jam City. Meanwhile, in stark contrast upstairs things will be a whole lot housier, with a takeover from Dial featuring label mainstay EfdeminRNDM and label heads Lawrence and Carsten Jost.

LENAUSTRASSE 5 – Everybody loves it!

If you like pies (of the savoury, British variety), live in Berlin and/or have followed our site you might have heard of Pieoneers. Purveyors of tasty pastry morsels, this UK-bred, Berlin-based duo have been bringing their super ganz lecker pies (and scotch eggs) to the DE Haupstadt for the past year or so, via both delivery (no joke – to your door!) and their pie nights at Das Gift. This Sat & Sund – they’re throwing a new offering our way, with a wochenende-lang pop-up shop pie & fruit frenzy with Berlin-based artist and smoothie maestro Billy. PIES. FRUIT SMOOTHIES. HALLÖCHEN. On top of Pieoneers pies, and fruit smoothies inspired by Billy’s paintings, we’re promised nice things to look at and music, from 11:00am Sat and Sund until late. Looking for some variety and a non-club related activity? This is the one.

About BRON

Bron writes on all things techno. If there's a party at the club, she is probably there - with fiddy and all the gang. She also likes gluten free bread (because she can't eat wheat) and wine.
