On the party Kalendar this weekend we’re getting around a few tasty gigs including the April edition of Ja Ja Ja Berlin and the irresistible Purity Ring, as well as couple of secret venue thangs (abandoned 70s theatre anyone?) and Saturday night party-starting vibes from Barnt. Bitte schön. :-*
Below are some of the events we are recommending for the week ahead in Berlin. Each of them is either highlighted with a:
Bron loves it! – more electronic, than not.
Lucy loves it! – more indie boy band/ pop vibes/ not techno.
Everyone loves it! – 2.5 words: shit’s ACE and/or edible.
FLUXBAU – Everybody loves it!
Oh jaaaa. Our favourite Nordic monthly is back and as always they’re putting on a tasty little showcase of northern wonder to kick start your wochenende a night early and intro your ears to sweet sweet Nordic sounds. This April edition of Ja Ja Ja Berlin – the DE arm of the long-running London-based night – will feature another triple whammy of pop goodness, headed up by Swedish bank Last Lynx, who’s thang is a Summery, uplifting, dream-pop thang. Prediction – feelings. Joining them in the Finnish corner is NEØV, who lean even more towards floaty dream pop. We’ve got a theme here. Rounding things out will be Psyence Fiction, who from a quick listen and with their hazy, wistful sound (not far from the realm of The National), might be my (Bron’s) pick of the drei. One for the fans of bands this eve – get around the dreaminess.

RITTER BUTZKE – Bron loves it!
Things that have completely thrown me off this weekend? This one, right hurr. I’ll be the first to admit I often skim past Ritter Butzke’s listings, however this Saturday they’re playing host to a more than punchy line-up and ‘Sender Freies Butzke’ looks set to be 100% vibes. Taking over the main room will be party-starting master and Cómeme don Barnt, who if you haven’t caught play before we can’t recommend highly enough (there are too many examples of greatness, however for starters try last year’s Boiler Room mix over here). Not stopping there, he’ll be joined in the main room by Leipzig / Nachtdigital’s Steffen Bennemann, Cologne-based Brit Matt Karmil and Kann Records Manamana. In between all of that goodness, you’ll also find Life & Death’s Christian Löffler (live), Delsin’s Erdbeerschnitzel (live) and mood music’s Dave DK. Looking for an excuse to head over to Ritterstasse? This is is the one.

POSTBAHNHOF – Everybody loves it!
Amongst a smorgasbord of techno I’m always on the lookout for any prime gig opportunities to mix shit up a bisschen. And as far as prime goes, this has to be up there: the totally irresistible Purity Ring are back in the B and we’re more than a little be excited. Touring their second full length, Another Eternity (released earlier this year) we’re looking forward to getting around their dreamy, r&b meets pop thang and well, their etheral light/crystal/drum set-up (please may this be coming with them). Support comes via Born Gold who is also pretty rad. Get your Ohren around Hyphen for a taster. Doors at 20:00, it looks like tickets are still available, or try your luck at the Tur.
