It really doesn’t seem thaaaat long ago that the y2K bug was a very real thang, but now here we are 15 YEARS LATER (15!!) at 2015. I’m not 100% certain I’m ready for this jelly, but hey, Guten Tag, freut mich, let’s Party. With Jan a traditionally damn good month for keeping warm on dancefloors and ignoring the cold, grey outside, this second weekend of 2015 has, naturally, plenty on offer. Fight the cold/your cold/January blues/get balls deep in 2015 and get busy on a dancefloor. :-*
Below are some of the events we are recommending for the week ahead in Berlin. Each of them is either highlighted with a:
Bron loves it! – more electronic, than not.
Lucy loves it! – more indie boy band/ pop vibes/ not techno.
Everyone loves it! – 2.5 words: shit’s ACE.
***DISCLAIMER: these aren’t the only discos that are going on – they are just the ones that stand out.
IPSE – Bron loves it!
Tempting even the most dedicated of detoxing enthusiasts, IPSE (in their recently re-opened indoor reincarnation) and label Sample & Hold are throwing a little party and it looks more than a little delicious. Leading the charge is Berlin-based, man of the match 2014, Objekt, who will be joined by Rotterdam’s Charlton (Mord Rec), Swedish Sample & Hold owner Patrik Skoog, !!! (Chk Chk Chk)’s Tyler Pope with an experimental 808 live jam (oh, hiya!), Xinner (Phonica) and Sankt Göran (The Free Spirit Society) alongside what we’re told is a pretty impressive new sound system.
KIT KAT CLUB – Bron loves it!
For those more #YOLO than #SYLO this second weekend of the year, head to Kit Kat Club where Gegen will be celebrating it’s fourth birthday with a nacht-lang, multi-room extravaganza. A party known for openness, getting sexy and a damn good (predominantly naked) time, there’s a high chance of their vier jahre bash, Gegen Fate, being one of the best yet. On top of five rooms of tanzen (featuring sets from Lady Blacktronika, Kaltès, Fata Kiefer, KETEV live, residents War Bear and Fernando Poo and a tonne more), you’ll also find a whole host of bonus extras: a room hosting a tarot card installation and reading (yes bitte), the Gegen underground cittadelle and promise of ‘”fetish balconades, hugs, hair, genetic manipulations and birthday french kisses”. As with most parties, ‘Nudity is proposed but not imposed’ and some form of entrance selection applies – those dressed more extraordinarily (think fetish, burlesque) are probably more likely to get in.
Not yet been to Gegen and want to know more? Get all over a nice recent piece on Electronic Beats here.
