What’s Up Weekend? 27 March – 2 April 2014

There’s etwas für alles this Spring wochenende, from Leisure System at Berghain, to a techno boat marathon on the Spree and a mid-week gig from Americano duo Cults. Embrace dem Frühling vibez. Kisses X

Below are some of the events we are recommending for the week ahead in Berlin. Each of them is either highlighted with a:

Bron loves it! – more electronic, than not.
Lucy loves it! – more indie boy band/ pop vibes/ not techno.
Everyone loves it! – 2.5 words: shit’s ACE.

***DISCLAIMER: these aren’t the only discos that are going on – they are just the ones that stand out.

One of our favourite Berlin parties (and labels) returns to Berghain tonight, and we’re more than a little bit enttäuscht that we’re missing out. Get your dancing shoes (and drank) on for Leisure System 21 – this round with Disclosure, The Field, Akkord, Barker and Discipline. Steering away from their usual live show, Disclosure will be kicking it DJ, along with Akkord and Discpline, while both The Field and Barker will be performing live. Upstairs – Pbar will host a classic Finest Friday with Pearson Sound, Abdulla Rashim, Marcellis and Francis Inferno Orchestra (get around the Melbournian’s Pbar debut). We’re there, causing a ruckus in spirit.

STATTBAD – Grounded Theory 27 w/ Shifted, The Persuader, Henning Baer – MEHR INFOS

HOPPETOSSE – Bron loves it!

Oh, hejjjjjj. Club der Visionaere’s boat venture, Hoppetosse, this weekend hosts one hell of a marathon in the form of ‘ЯETURN’, and you’re invited – if there’s room on board. Running from midnight on Sat through to midday on Mond, it would be safe to assume that the you’ll be in for some bangin/lengthy sets from a hearty line-up including: Ricardo Villalobos, Sonja Moonear, Raresh, Fumiya Tanaka, Laverne Radix, Dorian Paic, Shaun Reeves and more. With a roll call of 1,300 and rising and boat-sized capacity, you may need to be prepared for quite a queue – however with a  toasty 18 degree forecast, you can’t really complain.

Also worth checking out (Sat):

STATTBAD – Stattnacht w/ Mount Kimbie (dj), Ewan Pearson, Rebekah, Baron Castle, Dadub  – MEHR INFOS

BI NUU – Bron loves it!

Another one we’re really kicking ourselves for missing – master of the Summer soundtrack Tycho is in the Haupstadt and tonight plays Schlesi’s Bi Nuu. Touring his new LP, Awake (released on Ghostly International earlier this month), this should be an evening full of aural pleasure and a delicious taster of this pretty heavenly new release. Doors at 7pm, show at 8pm, support from The Von Duesz (DE), tickets look like they’re still verfügbar at the door.

LIDO – Everybody/Mike loves it!

Next week at the beautiful Lido in Kreuzberg, the very beautiful Cults are gracing Berlin with their presence for an evening of gorgeous indie pop. I (Mike of Demons Galore fame) managed to interview the band a few years back on the tour for their first self-titled record and now they have returned to Germany in support of last year’s sexy new album, Static. They were mega nice. Here they are playing a song from said album on an American TV show. In America. Bangur. Cults are playing Wednesday the 2nd of April at Lido, Cuvrystr. 7 at 9pm, the day after April Fool’s which is no joke… anyone… anyone?

About BRON

Bron writes on all things techno. If there's a party at the club, she is probably there - with fiddy and all the gang. She also likes gluten free bread (because she can't eat wheat) and wine.
