May is a tease. Packed full of promise on May 1st of a month full of Feiertags, before you know it you’ve used Himmelfahrt to clean the house, didn’t take the 15th as a holiday and BOOM – find yourself on the last (THE LAST) long weekend of the year until Weihnachten. It hurts. If you’re sticking around Berlin this final Feiertag of the year – make the most of an weekend-long offering of absolute vibes. From the dancing and parading extravaganza that is Karneval der Kulturen, through to a two-day edition of one of our favourite summer parties, Wax Treatment, an asparagus festival (really), the 5th Birthday celebration for our friends at No Fear of Pop and winding up with the debut from new party series, Please Don’t Tell – to which you could win a cheeky pair of guest lists places. BITTE.
Below are some of the events we are recommending for the week ahead in Berlin. Each of them is either highlighted with a:
Bron loves it! – more electronic, than not.
Lucy loves it! – more indie boy band/ pop vibes/ not techno.
Everyone loves it! – 2.5 words: shit’s ACE and/or edible.
FREITAG – SONNTAG
KARNEVAL DER KULTUREN (KREUZBERG) – Everybody loves it!
Fancy shaking up your usual wochenende vibe with something a little more PG? Say hallöchen to the 2015 edition of Karneval der Kulturen – a three day celebration of multicultural diversity in Berlin, taking place mostly around Kreuzberg. With the “Strassenfest”, being the main hub for the weekend (you’ll find this around Blücherplatz), the major drawcard is the street parade on Sunday – a costumed, dancing and live musik affair traveling along Urbanstrasse, Hermannplatzt and Gneisenaustrasse. And when the screaming children get all a bit too much get right into a tonne of after parties, with the official parties going down at Yaam.
SÜDBLOCK – CREAMCAKE PRESENTS DJ PAYPAL, DINAMARCA – MEHR INFOS
SAMSTAG – SONNTAG
KIEKEBUSCH – Bron loves it!
This long weekend sees the return of one of our favourite summer parties, and this time running for two days we think it will be well worth packing your day pack and trekking out into the Brandenburg countryside for Sat, Sund or both, and a whole lot of field frolicking vibes. Located at Kiekebusch – a beautiful, lakeside, patch of farmland at the end of the s-bahn–Wax Treatment are throwing their first open air of the season, and as always have a pretty incredible line-up alongside their signature Killasan sound system (a beauty/beast tailored for sounds at the bassier of sounds).
With the option of both heading out per day, or staying over night, this first edition for 2015 will play host to a whole lot of Wax Treatment / Hard Wax related fam, including Mark Ernestus w/ Tikiman, DJ Pete, Burnt Friedman (live), Tapes (live), Jahtari feat. Tonto Addi (live), Dub Across Borders (live), Hops, and the more than special ‘Power House Night’ on Sund featuring Shed in Head High mode, Finn Johannsen, Tama Sumo and Lakuti. Getting out there is half the adventure – with cycling from S-Bahn Zeuthen being our tip (just leave the site a good 30 minutes before nightfall, or pack a tent/sleeping bag for the night). Highly recommended – find Bron for a dance in the sand on Sunday.

PRINCE CHARLES – Bron loves it!
At the top of our list for Karneval der Kulturen after parties sits the debut edition of Please Don’t Tell, a new party series that promises good tunes, free flowing vibes and a top secret surprise act, revealed on the night (Überraschungen – got them). Kicking off at the long-weekend friendly hour of 18:00 in the Prince Charles courtyard, their first party offers a pretty punchy line-up including Leipzig’s Lake People live, fellow LVTG countryman Tornado Wallace (wrap your ears around his Dummy Mix over here) and the aforementioned secret act. Our guess is as good as yours – bets bitte. Rounding things out you’ll find Konkret Cutz, Sanja & Oldspeak and Jonathan Mendiola, as well as totally lecker Essen until 22:00 from Men Men. Running well into your Feiertag Montag, tickets can be picked up via RA, on the door oder….
