What’s Up Weekend? 20 – 25 February 2014

This week we’re panicking over too too many options on Fri, looking forward to checking out Supreme Cuts on Sat and stuffing our fat faces with Pieoneers’ pies on the day of rest. Join us! Make Party! xx

Below are some of the events we are recommending for the week ahead in Berlin. Each of them is either highlighted with a:

Bron loves it! – more electronic, than not.
Lucy loves it! – more indie boy band/ pop vibes/ not techno.
Everyone loves it! – 2.5 words: shit’s ACE.

***DISCLAIMER: these aren’t the only discos that are going on – they are just the ones that stand out.

PANORAMA BAR – Bron loves it!

Oooo eeee we’re in for a such treat this Finest Friday at Panorama Bar. Curated by Tama Sumo, the Pbar resident will be joined by the great man, Levon Vincent (bitte bitte schön), Detroit and 3 Chairs’ Marcellus Pittman, Lakuti, and GB (Gifted and Blessed) – live, who I’m quickly getting around via last December’s release, Within these Machines. This will be a popular one – get there early!

TRESOR – Bron loves it!

Spanner in the works – Tresor’s also providing a damn fine bill this Freitag abend. Shit! Luring you to the Köpenickerstrasse’s mega powerhouse, is a rare appearance from Donato Dozzy (we think the last time he played solo in Berlin was 2012?), who will also be joined by the other half of Voices from the Lake and fellow Italiano, Neel, along with a live set from Stroboscopic’s Dadub and resident Mareena. If you’re after a break from the basement/lasers, Globus will show off DJ Deep, ANA (Slave To The Rhythm), Paulo (Airdrop) and resident Handmade.

://ABOUTBLANK – Bron loves it!

Wait, what, stop it, it’s also a Homopatik weekend. Zu viel Berlin, zu viel! Kicking off at midnight, as always you’re likely in for an incredible party with bucketloads of house and disco-y feel good ℅ Mr Ties and co. For those who like to make a weekend of it, this month’s party is only 22 non-stop hours (you’ll have to hold out until May for the next multi-day affair) and will wind up at 22:00 on Sat.

GRETCHEN – Bron loves it!

In perhaps a different but no less delectable court, Gretchen tonight plays host to DJ Rashad and Scratcha DVA. It’s a pretty bloody exciting double whammy – with DJ Rashad riding off the back of last year’s brilliant releases Double Cup and I Don’t Give a Fuck (hec-tic), and Scratcha DVA, who’s sets are all sorts of party times (example from Copenhagen’s Distortion last year). They’re also being joined by resident Delfonic and  Berlin’s Sarah Farina, who recently made a killer Boiler Room debut over here. Wear sturdy shoes and warm up your muscles, this could be an intense one.

KANTINE AM BERGHAIN – Everybody loves it!

Fresh off the release of their second full-length, Divine Ecstasy (which Germany got its mitts on in late Jan, released on Memphis Industries), Chicago-based duo Supreme Cuts are doing a wee Euro tour, and tonight making an appearance in the Haupstadt. Huzzah! With their album being a sultry genre-hopping affair (blending hip hop, rnb, pop, house, footwork, and everything in between), something for everyone is the flavour of this night – get all over the variety. They’ll be supported by local one-man house/techno live act, CutOff!CutOff! and….

Continuing on with our Oprah-esque 2014 freebie spree, we’re got 2 x 2 tickets to giveaway. Treat yo self, and someone else!

TO ENTER: Jump in the comments and tell us something interesting about Chicago (where Supreme Cuts and coincidently Oprah are based). Example: Chicago is home to the world’s largest population of Poles outside of Warsaw. FACT (we think).

We do love learning here at Lucy vs.  the Globe.

DAS GIFT – Everybody loves it!

Things Germans do exceptionally well – Sundays. Things Brits nail – pies. Combine the two – and sweet sweet buttery pastry we’re in Sonntag Himmel. Moving away from music, to our other love, delicious Essen, is this third Pieoneers Pie Night at Neukölln’s Das Gift. Pieoneers – the lovely crew who bake pies, and deliver them to your door – will be showcasing their range of pies, vegetarian pasties and also throwing a little raffle – take home even more pies! Kicking off at the totally leisurely Uhr of 16:00, we’d recommend getting there early as these bad boys are super popular.

About BRON

Bron writes on all things techno. If there's a party at the club, she is probably there - with fiddy and all the gang. She also likes gluten free bread (because she can't eat wheat) and wine.
