This weekend we’re particularly excited (and conflicted) about a battle of the vibe-bringers on Freitag: with Leisure System and Electric Minds at the big house and Studio Barnhus and Smallville at Stattbad. If that’s all a bit much, a purer techno direction can be found at Arena Club via Modulate on Samstag. Choose your flavour.
Below are some of the events we are recommending for the week ahead in Berlin. Each of them is either highlighted with a:
Bron loves it! – more electronic, than not.
Lucy loves it! – more indie boy band/ pop vibes/ not techno.
Everyone loves it! – 2.5 words: shit’s ACE and/or edible.
***DISCLAIMER: these aren’t the only discos that are going on – they are just the ones that stand out.
BERGHAIN / PANORAMA BAR – Bron loves it!
Looking for an ideal start to your weekend, 100% vibes? THIS IS THE ONE. Now up to their 24th edition at the Big Haus, Berlin-based Leisure System have a knack for throwing killer parties that lean towards showcasing electronic music less often heard inside those holy walls. This Freitag they’re back and things are looking as delicious as ever – with live sets from Andy Stott & Miles Whittaker as Millie & Andrea (touring off the back of last year’s Drop the Vowels LP), the immer gut Laurel Halo and veteran US experimentalist Richard Devine. Rounding out the main floor with a handful of punchy DJ sets, they’ll be joined by JoeFarr and Leisure residents, Barker and Puzzle.
And if that’s not enough: upstairs (and on the same entry – really) another takeover from UK-based party starters and P-bar regulars, Electric Minds will unfold. Simply put, they’re not fucking around, with Levon Vincent, Move D, Tama Sumo and Dolan Bergin. No joke. Unter und oben, this is one of the more ridiculous Freitag abends we’ve seen in a while and not to be missed (unless you’re Bron, training for a half-marathon. Shoot me).
STATTBAD – Bron loves it!
To really mess with your destination of choice this Freitag, things are also looking more than reasonable further north with Smallville presenting Studio Barnhus at Stattbad. Hallöööchen. It’s a DE vs. SE family affair, with Studio Barnhus head honchos Axel Boman, Kornél Kovács and Petter Nordkvist aka Pedrodollar in the Swedish corner. And on the DE side – Smallville’s Smallpeople, Christopher Rau and Juniper. 6/6 for feeling the house feelings right thurrr. Our recommendation? Getting to Stattbad early – place seems to be getting crowded more quickly.

ARENA CLUB – Bron loves it!
Fancy heading back in a purer techno direction after Friday’s house and experimental affairs? Kein ding – Arena Club have you sorted with the fourth edition of new-ish nacht, Modulate. Conceived as a night to showcase finely curated techno that encourages you to, well, lose your mind a little, this fourth edition promises ”Drone-filled, bass heavy and broken waves” across the night c/o Lewis Fautzi ( Soma Records), Parasol (Figure Third), Rory St. John (Uninerves) and Swarm Intelligence (Ad Noiseam). Entry will set you back 10€, and tickets in advance can be secured via RA.
