What’s Up Weekend? 13 – 19 November 2014

SHARE ME:

This week we’re vibing a multi-genre’d flavour in Berghain on Fri thanks to Leisure System, cosier local flavours via Zerberus at OHM and a major case of Saturday night feelings thanks to How to Dress Well – live, toying with our emotions at Bang Bang Club. Lucy & I (Bron) will be there – join us while we sob into our rot weins! :-*

Below are some of the events we are recommending for the week ahead in Berlin. Each of them is either highlighted with a:

Bron loves it! – more electronic, than not.
Lucy loves it! – more indie boy band/ pop vibes/ not techno.
Everyone loves it! – 2.5 words: shit’s ACE.

***DISCLAIMER: these aren’t the only discos that are going on – they are just the ones that stand out.

FREITAG

BERGHAIN / PANORAMA BAR Bron loves it!

TFIF your way over to Berghain tonight for the return of one of our (Bron’s) favourite Berlin parties, the immer gut Leisure System. A guaranteed good time and chance to check out an electronic line-up outside of straight up house and techno, this edition (their last for 2014) plays host to a pretty heavy hitting line-up including “legendary mayhem-maker” venetian snares (their words – and we like them), R&S’s Tessela, Rephlex Records’ DMX Krew (dj set), Leisure’s Rob Clouth (live), local Bintus and making his Berghain debut, Leisure label manager and new LS resident Gonsher. Meanwhile upstairs sees a takeover from Ibadan Records with their annual Panorama Bar label night, lead by label head Jerome Sydenham. He’ll be joined by Deepblak’s Aybee, NYC’s Nicky Siano, Chicago house don Robert Owens and house by way of Japan from Katsuya Sano. It’s a ridiculously diverse lineup and most definitely one worth blocking off Saturday for.

OHM – Bron loves it!

Fancy a cosier dancefloor this feierabend? OHM could very well be your ticket with the second edition of new party series Zerberus. Following their debut back in July (where they showcased local label Workshop), this round hosts a Marmo Music takeover with live sets from Berlin-based The Analog Roland Orchestra and Modus, who is celebrating an upcoming EP out on Marmo this month, They’ll also be joined by Rufus (due to release on Bosconi in Dec) and Marmo’s Manfuoco alongside Stefano Meucci. On top of all of those delicious Deutsch/Italian flavours, OHM is a venue we’re always looking for more excuses to get to and entry is only €6 – it’s a win on many levels.

SAMSTAG

BANG BANG CLUB – Everybody loves it!

This weekend is extra magical – really. Not only is the weather mild as, How To Dress Well is back in Berlin and we couldn’t be happier. Your mate Bron and I were lucky enough to catch old mate during summer for his choreographed gig as part of the Foreign Affairs Festival – and as much as this was magical, I’m kind of excited for the simple pleasures of a concert. I have all sorts of nostalgia for this delicious creature originally from Chicago – so I’m rather excited to get a little emo and probably drunk text a handful of guys from romances past  :-*

About BRON

Bron writes on all things techno. If there's a party at the club, she is probably there - with fiddy and all the gang. She also likes gluten free bread (because she can't eat wheat) and wine.
