Fight the post-May Day sads (2015’s festivities really out-did themselves, didn’t they?) and jump straight back into a plethora of killer parties, and two totally schön festivals – one within the Haupstadt, the other a little further afield.
Below are some of the events we are recommending for the week ahead in Berlin. Each of them is either highlighted with a:
Bron loves it! – more electronic, than not.
Lucy loves it! – more indie boy band/ pop vibes/ not techno.
Everyone loves it! – 2.5 words: shit’s ACE and/or edible.
DONNERSTAG – SONNTAG
X JAZZ FESTIVAL – VARIOUS KREUZBERG – Bron loves it!
We’ve admittedly dropped the ball slightly on this one as things kicked off yesterday, however even with one night on there’s still a TONNE on this 2015 edition of XJAZZ Festival and we recommend getting involved in as many of these schön gigs as you can. Taking place in various venues around Kreuzberg, Berlin’s biggest jazz festival has a few quirks that make it so special – a 75% local line-up policy; a contemporary approach to jazz (also covers electronically improvised music, new classical music, as well as singer/songwriter) and stages made up of Kreuzberg’s best music venues. Running for 5 nights the program is huge (and can be explored over here), however a few of our picks include: DONNERSTAG – Brandt Brauer Frick at Lido; FREITAG – Electronics & Improvisation w/ Max Graef Band, Johannes Brecht Trio feat. Fetsum, Aybee feat. Lars Bartkuhn at Bi Nuu; Louie Vega at Prince Charles; SAMSTAG – Nightmares on Wax at Bi Nuu; David August Ensemble at Bi Nuu; SONNTAG – Jose James at Neue Heimat.
FREITAG – SONNTAG
HER DAMIT FESTIVAL, PRORA, RÜGEN – Bron loves it!
Ok not Berlin, but not thaaaat far and well worth the journey if you fancy a little adventure this weekend. We’ve already raved about this one over here and here, however if you missed it, Her Damit Festival is doing it’s delicious house -and-techno-on-an-abandoned-beach-resort thang this weekend – and we’re bloody excited. Taking place on the Ostsee in a former third reich beach resort which laid abandoned for years, this little weekender should be nothing but vibes with an incredible setting paired with a ridiculously impressive line up, incl: Levon Vincent, Rødhåd, Roman Flügel, Marcel Fengler, tINI, Mike Huckaby, ItaloJohnson, Oliver Deutschmann, Moomin, Oskar Offermann & Edward, Alex.Do, Dario Zenker, The Analogue Cops, Dan Shake, Christian Löffler, Henning Baer, FJAAK, Job Jobse + so many more. The best part – tickets are still up for grabs for both the whole weekend or per day. It’s an ideal weekend adventure and perfect start to your festival season. See you on the (sandy) dancefloor.

://ABOUT BLANK – Bron loves it!
Coinciding with the re-opening of Berlin’s vibiest club garden, Beatrausch‘s how soon is now series returns to ://about blank and will this Sonntag be treating us to 12hours of perfekt after hour. Kicking off at 10:00am Sund, this first edition for 2015 will play host to Leipzig’s map.ache (KANN / Manamana) (fresh from a set at Her Damit) alongside Hamburg’s Marc Schneider (Circus Company / Story).
