What’s on this week is that Berlin is exploding into musical madness with Berlin Music Week and all sorts of tasty side-events including Our/Berlin Music Week – curated by those pretty dandelions at Nordic by Nature, hydrated by our dear friends at Our/Berlin Vodka and bringing us this weeks update of events – it’s going to be a bonkers handful of days.
If you’ve kept an eye on the blog the past week or two you might be up to date on who to see & when, if not, let us break it down for you right here, right nowwww.
Below are some of the events we are recommending for the week ahead in Berlin. Each of them is either highlighted with a:
Bron loves it! – more electronic, than not.
Lucy loves it! – more indie boy band/ pop vibes/ not techno.
Everyone loves it! – 2.5 words: shit’s ACE
***DISCLAIMER: these aren’t the only discos that are going on – they are just the ones that stand out.
Vodka from Our/Berlin, Scandinavian music curated by Nordic by Nature, a totally schön setting tucked into the side of the Arena complex and FREE ENTRY – the Scandi off-shoot of Berlin Music Week has all the right ingredients and today continues with more delicious music to ease you into the weekend. Lucy already worded you up over here, however if you need a little refresher, highlights today include: DNKL, Dinner and Aurora Aksnes. This one kicks off early leute, get down there from 15:00 onwards.
HKI 1952 (Pop up bar) – Lucy loves it !
Tonight is your night to catch a few things:
- Free drinks by way of Finland’s very own HKI 1952
- Hawkon playing sex music for free (live at 6:45 – after work cocktail anyone?)
- babes from in and around Mitte.
If these things aren’t getting you to Torstrasse 66 (all thanks to Noisey and Kaiku Studios), I don’t know what is.
FIRST WE TAKE BERLIN – Everybody loves it!
Taking over a tonne of venues around the east end of Kreuzberg this festival within a festival leans towards showcasing up-and-coming artists, and we’ll be using the next couple nights to focus on checking out some of those fresher faces. Miss Lucy’s round up over here? Tonight we’re getting to get all in up and around Sivu (Privatclub, 20:00), Seinabo Sey (Lido, 21:40), Sinkane (Postbahnhof, 23:20) and Sway Clarke II (Lido, 22:40). One ticket gets you entry to all venues, so go nuts and get some of those delicious (mostly) pop vibes.
It’s the final tag of this nordic musical/vodka goodness and this afternoon and evening get all over Sandra Kolstad, Henrik Jose, Adna and more more moreeee. Don’t forget that on top of delicious beverages from Berlin’s finest vodka, there will also be food trucks from Fräulein Kimchi, Bunsmobile, Kauf dich Glücklich, Oslo Kaffeebar and more. Today will run from 15:00 – 21:00, make an arvo of it or stop by after work.
VARIOUS AROUND KREUZBERG – FIRST WE TAKE BERLIN – Everybody loves it!
More, more, more – musical mayhem continues and tonight we’ll be sprinting around Kreuzberg trying to catch: Kindness (Astra, 22:20) (did we mentioned we’re excited?!), Phoria (Bi Nuu, 21:30), Lief Hall (Urban Spree, 00:00) and for those still kicking, IAMNOBODI (Yaam Beachbox, 03:45) . There’s a whole lot more on offer than what we’ve mentioned here, hit the link below and create your own program.
If all of the above wasn’t enough – brace yourself for the großvater of the whole thang, with Berlin Festival – which this year will run non-stop across the weekend (24 hr party people rejoice!). Having made a last min venue shift over to the Arena complex in Kreuzberg, the 5th edition of the festival is certainly not short on big names and this Fri evening into Sat we’re excited to catch Todd Terje (Warsteiner Mainstage, 02:00), DJ Koze (Warsteiner Mainstage, 03:15), Darkside (Warsteiner Mainstage, 00:45 – in probably one of their very last shows together), Jacques Greene (Glashaus, 02:00), Hudson Mohawke (Glashaus, 03:15) and moreeee.

PRINCE CHARLES – Everybody loves it!
Um – Berlin’s first champagne market? JA BITTE. If all of this festival-ing has taken it’s toll, don your glad rags and withdraw this month’s pay – The Champagne Studio has arrived and is encouraging you to treat yo self this Sonntag abend. Starting at 19:00, you’ll need to buy tickets to this one which will include a glass of champagne on arrival. Drops on offer include Krug, Charles Heidsieck, Bollinger, Jean Marc Sélèque, Roederer, Tesch Riesling and moreeeee. We’re told this will all wind up in “an extravagant underground Disco party” – which sounds pretty fabulous to us. Prost!
