One of our favourite days on the Berlin Kalendar is back – 1. MAI ! – and we’re more than a little bit excited. As is tradition, we’ll 1) be cramming in as much party Zeit as possible over the eve and main event and 2) have compiled our pick of parties below. Oh – and it’s also gallery weekend. Have fun, drink Sekt, take an Urlaub on Monday.
Below are some of the events we’re into over the week ahead. They’re marked with either:
Bron loves it! – more electronic, than not.
Lucy loves it! – not hard techno vibes.
Everyone loves it! – 2.5 words: shit’s ACE and/or edible.

KLUNKERKRANICH – Bron loves it!
Ambient, house, disco, afro beat and probably quite a lot of Prince, on top of our favourite rooftop bar, from 16:00 until sometime the next AM: it’s the return of So It Goes, al fresco drinking and dancing season, Erste May Eve and basically the unofficial start of Summer and we are FAR TOO EXCITED. Throwing their first party of the season, this month’s So It Goes will play host to special guest Konx-om-Pax providing music and visuals ahead of his new release on Planet Mu, alongside residents and party starters Duncan, Meridian and N>E>D . In short – about as good as Saturday afternoon/evening vibes get and one hell of a view of Neukölln. Get there early – this place fills up.
BURGSCHNABEL – Bron loves it!
Dance into May this Samstag with all the party-machen vibes by way of the return of NYC and London party crew, 3’Hi, to our Haupstadt. With a penchant for playing dance floor driven sounds – think alot of Grime, Garage, UK House, Bass, Boogie and mehr – even before they name drop, we’re listening. This May-eve special will take place at Spree-side player Burgschnabel, across two rooms, with two huge funktion one systems. Bitte schön. Tunes for the nacht will come via Spacemountain Dj’s, Jonathan Rau, Cher Monsieur, 3’Hi’s Steinwald, Ben Mono and Sheikh in Room 1, with Shlomp DJ’s, 3’Hi’s YAW, She’s Drunk, Not Your Girlfriend, Diana Bo$$, Luke Isaac and Nangdo in Room 2. We’re told it’s a friends and family kind of affair, and coupled with this party weekend, we’d expect this to be a pretty spaß one. €5 all night on the door – 11pm till 7am.

SONNTAG 1. – ERSTER MAI
Tag der Arbeit has a pretty wild history in the German capital (this here was what could be expected 15 years back) and you’ll probably find a handful of demonstrations on earlier in the day if you want to get involved. However, across our past years of May Days we’ve seen very little violence nor a firebombed car – and instead enjoyed what has evolved beyond riots and MyFest (a festival originally organised to counteract the riots, centred around Oranienstrasse) into one giant open air across bars, clubs and any space really in Kreuzberg and beyond.
Located predominantly around Kotti to Görli, there are as always a tonne of free parties to choose from, and plenty of bars and general swanning around the closed streets to be enjoyed in between. Good to know for first timers! The closer to Kotti and Görli the more likely you are to have crowd-heavy parties, and general mayhem and the less likely you’ll have phone reception, a cash machine or personal space. It’s a choose your own adventure kinda affair:
Our top picks of the parties announced so far (keep an eye out for last min events) are below:

BERGHAIN – Bron loves it!
Katowice’s finest festival is back this August and to celebrate our lovely Polish friends are throwing a series of pre-parties to get us into das Mood. Touring beyond Poland for the first time, Tauron Nowa Muzyka Festival will this coming Tues stop by Berlin and host all the mid-week vibes on our favourite Berlin dancefloor. In line with their festival program (check that out over here), the line-up is suitably excellent (particularly for a mid-week), featuring breakcore king Venetian Snares. Take a second to listen and picture that in Berghain. Joining him: genre-hopping RSS Boys, who if you’re not familiar with have a jam packed SoundCloud account to get around and Wroclaw-bred Nervy, a collective who we’re told mix “electronic music with live horns and string sections combined with mathematically constructed beats”. We’re into it. Kicking off at 20:00, tickets are available in advance oder…..
