I have asked my mate Bron to give us a round-up of what’s going on in Berlin each week. Allowing us all to machen die Party. I’m not very techno-techno-techno – but Berlin is, and so is your mate Bron. Each event is either highlighted with a:
Bron loves it! – more electronic, than not.
Lucy loves it! – more indie boy band/ pop vibes/ not techno.
Everyone loves it! – 2.5 words: shit’s ACE.
We have moved What’s Up Weekend to Thursday, as all this weekend disco really puts us on the back foot for a Wednesday deadline. So here are your go-to’s for the week ahead.
**DISCLAIMER: these aren’t the only discos that are going on – they are just the ones that stand out.

FREITAG
PANORAMA BAR – Bron loves it! And is going, natürlich.
I’ve been all about the mega Pbar Freitag of late. There’s just something about throwing your hands in the air like you just don’t care that sets a weekend off on the very best foot. And that’s before factoring in aptly timed shutter openings. STOP IT! This week, continue on that vibe and write off all chances of getting your groceries did on Sat, c/o long-standing UK trio The Black Dog (live!!), Permanent Vacation’s favourite Irishman Mano Le Tough, Chilean fave Dinky and the Deutsch collab of Gerd Janson and Phillip Lauer as Tuff City Kids. Top floor only Leute, get there in gut time.
SAMSTAG
CHALET – Bron loves it!
This right here is on of those Saturdays where club crawling is looking like the right kinda choice. Kicking off a night of equally prime offerings is the return of White Tiles, this time over at the Kreuzberg outlier, Chalet, where they’re mixing some pretty delicious UK talent with some local Deutsch flavours. Hessle Audio’s Kowton along with Wolf Music’s Medlar are in town and are joined by some Ambivalent offerings Jonathan Ritzmann and Alpakaboys and White Tiles residents Baron Castle and Marius Krickow. Party making stuff, right there.
HUMBOLDTHAIN CLUB – Bron loves it! Quite possibly going!
With the big Berghain Promote Diversity party still a few weeks off (pencil that in), Humboldthain Club tonight hosts a party with the same important message in mind and a bunch of attractive names are on board for the cause. Born as a response towards the growing oppression in Russia towards the LGBTI community, Make Love want to bring together people from all walks of life and “dance for freedom”, which to me sounds bloody fantastic. With all proceeds from this shindig going towards Gay Russia, tunes for the evening will be provided by Soundstream, Tama Sumo, Lakuti, ryo, Albert Stone, Murat Tepeli and a live set from Portable. On top all of this social conscience and alluring names, I’m also getting all over the chance to check out this new Wedding club. It’s a win-win.
GRETCHEN – Bron loves it!
If some sexier UK bass is more your vibe, Gretchen’s looking pretty appealing this evening with a Mindset Records takeover lead by Synkro, DjRUM & Indigo. Celebrating the general goodness of Mindset, along with a pretty damn heavenly remix EP out next month (mindset015) and of course some notable 2012/2013 releases from all three of these drawcards, this should be swimming in delicious party vibes. They’re joined by Hatti Vatti (Mindset/PL) and resident Delfonic (Oye Records).
SAMSTAG/SONNTAG
://ABOUT BLANK – Bron loves it! And is going (we think).
Reasons we’ll be heading to ://aboutblank this Samstag and Sonntag (and when I say ‘we’, I mean Bron, as Lucy will be in Barcelona. Mate!). 1. Boddika, nonplus boss, master of big hitting bass and has new release out on Montag. 2. Peter Van Hoesen, time to express head honcho, one of Belgium’s best exports and purveyor of fine techno. Known to generally kill it. 3. Local faves (and Deutsch crowd pleasers), Efdemin b2b Resom, Sven Weisemann and Lady Blacktronika. 4. An ever-increasing realisation that summer is on the way out, and that all outside clubbing opportunities should be basked in, while the glory still lasts. Boxes, boxes, boxes, tick, tick, tick.
