What’s up Weekend? 20 – 26 February 2013

whats-up-weekendI have asked my mate Bron to give us a round-up of what’s going on in Berlin each week. Allowing us all to machen die Party. I’m not very techno-techno-techno – but Berlin is, and so is your mate Bron. Each event is either highlighted with a:

  1. Bron loves it! – more electronic, than not.
  2. Lucy loves it! – more indie boy band/ pop vibes/ not techno.
  3. Everyone loves it! – 2.5 words: shit’s ACE.

Here are your go-to’s for the week ahead.

**DISCLAIMER: these aren’t the only discos that are going on – they are just the ones that stand out.

BOILER ROOM – Bron loves it!

It’s always questionable whether including the Boiler Room in here is fair, given it falls under the whole ‘invite only’ bracket to actually attend in person. But hell, this is a good one. Ben Klock tonight makes his Boiler Room debut and shit will surely get heavy in a really good way. Joined by Nina Kravitz and Amir Alexander. Take your Wednesday to the next level and jump on the live stream.

PRINCE CHARLES – Everyone loves it! Everyone is going!

For a nice local showcase, the WHITE Label night at Prince Charles this evening could be your ticket. EdwardJohannes Albert and Konstantin should bring a night of good wibez with a deep, danceable flavour. You might even make some highly sought after German-speaking Berlin friends. Win and then some!

And if you’re smart, you’ll arrive before 11pm for not only free entry but the tail-end of The T Room Sessions with Johanna Knutsson, Red Rack’em and BNJMN. It makes sense really.

WATERGATE – Bron loves it!

I’ve never seen KiNK live but I can’t help but like him. Maybe this is due to his famously insane live set up, quite possibly it’s also thanks to the photos/footage of him playing live and having a ball as he goes to technical town. Whatever it is, hardware and/or house heads unite – Bulgaria’s finest export is playing live tonight at Watergate. This should be fun. Bloody Mary, Luna City Express and Jef K are also on board for this Vitamin night.

STATTBAD – Bron loves it! and is going (Maybe. Open to persuasion)

Stattbad seems to have been on a mighty roll of delicious lately – and this Saturday’s carte du jour of Nathan Fake (live), man of the mask Redshape (live), Kassem Mosse and mobilee man Ralf Kollman is nochmals spot on. Fine techno, some lashings of house and likely a few ‘Fuck yeah, good one!’ curveballs, this is the pick of the week and will likely be heaving.

RENATE – Bron loves it!

Meanwhile over in Friedrichshain, the house party vibe of Renate has the potential to really kick off tonight courtesy of anything-goes trio PillowTalk and a ‘Clockwork Renate’ theme. Joined by Damian Schwartz, Federico Molinari, John Osborn and viel mehr. Korova Milchbar – sure, why not?

ASTRA – Everyone loves it!

The ever-likable, all-conquering Alt-J (∆) are in town, and are providing a really ideal alternative to Tatort this Sonntag Abends. As with the majority of band-gigs we mention here, tickets appear to have all been snapped up. But there are ways, there are always ways. Get creative.

About BRON

Bron writes on all things techno. If there's a party at the club, she is probably there - with fiddy and all the gang. She also likes gluten free bread (because she can't eat wheat) and wine.
