What’s Up Weekend? 2 – 7 May 2013

What it is Weekend?I have asked my mate Bron to give us a round-up of what’s going on in Berlin each week. Allowing us all to machen die Party. I’m not very techno-techno-techno – but Berlin is, and so is your mate Bron. Each event is either highlighted with a:

Bron loves it! – more electronic, than not.
Lucy loves it! – more indie boy band/ pop vibes/ not techno.
Everyone loves it! – 2.5 words: shit’s ACE.

Here are your go-to’s for the week ahead.

**DISCLAIMER: these aren’t the only discos that are going on – they are just the ones that stand out.

BERGHAINEverybody loves it! Bron is going (and is more than a little bit excited)

This is the kind of doubleheader dreams are made of, and like some sort of May 2nd miracle, here it is, for real, TONIGHT. Mount Kimbie AND How to Dress Well, at Berghain. *melts*. If that’s not enough to make you sprint down to Koka (the only outlet that seems to be selling these golden tickets), in brief:… Mount Kimbie – London, Crooks & Lovers, Carbonated, performers of an epic live show, highly anticipated upcoming new album coming out May 28th (hello tasty teaser!). How to Dress Well – lovesick R&B at it’s absolute most enjoyable and moment-making best. This is my pick of the week, perhaps even the month. Shit’s going to get emotional.

PRINCE CHARLES – Bron loves it!

For a whole lotta heart, soul-laden house and funky disco vibes – all in one (!!) – , this Friday at Prince Charles is your ticket. Soulmate returns with Rush Hour’s Hunee and Daniel Wang, and Rahaan. If you’re smart, you’ll also arrive earlier on for the weekly weekend warmer the T Room Sessions (+ free entry) which this week hosts Jeremy P Caulfield and Dirt Crew. Just try and fight the feel good.

CLUB DER VISIONAERE – Bron loves it! And is going!

After a successful debut earlier in April, the Buff Dance returns to CDV and this time it’s a potential 20 Stunden affair. Sorry, whaaaat? Kicking off at 2pm Bakey Ustl, Preesh Mendez and friends promise a day/night/day of finely selected, classic house tunes and good reason to spend the better part of your wochenende at Flutgraben 1.

STATTBAD – Bron loves it! And is going!

Berlin’s Sweat Lodge Agency (the team also behind Sweat Lodge Radio, Prince Charles’ weekly T Room Sessions and free print mag SLIM) takes to Stattbad tonight to celebrate 6 years of association with quality house and techno. Splitting their thang over two rooms, the ear treats come c/o of A Sagittarian (in his Berlin debut), Ed Davenport as Inland (live debut), Agnes, Quell, Donnacha Costello, The Drifter, Achterbahn D’Amour and Joel Alter. Alles gute zum Geburtstag!

PRINCE CHARLES – Bron loves it! Could quite possibly be going (mate – there’s a BBQ)

Throwing some more clash-decision making in the mix, Prince Charles is also looking ideal this eve with 33.3% of Hessle Audio, Pangaea, Hot Flush’s techno-leaning Dense & Pika and extended family making up this all night affair. There’s also mention of hip hop and a BBQ for starters – that might just seal the deal.

://about blank – Bron loves it!

There’s some sort of May madness in the air, because here’s another prime offering and potential 20 hours of power . Get Deep returns to Friedrichshain’s ://about blank with Greg WilsonBrandt Brauer Frick, Usio, Max Graef, Samanta Fox and viel mehr. If the weather’s nice enough, grab your Fahrrad and make a club crawl night of it?

About BRON

Bron writes on all things techno. If there's a party at the club, she is probably there - with fiddy and all the gang. She also likes gluten free bread (because she can't eat wheat) and wine.
