What’s Up Weekend? 15 – 21 May

Berlin, this weekend it’s all about dancefloor marathons – followed by a mid-week gig from Dum Dum Girls (as recommended by our guest previewer, Demons Galore). Oh and the opening of a Bowie exhibition. And Bite Club is back. Oh and it’s Lange Nacht der Museen… Ok – so perhaps not just extreme clubbing. How’s the variety! Get busy, kisses x

Below are some of the events we are recommending for the week ahead in Berlin. Each of them is either highlighted with a:

Bron loves it! – more electronic, than not.
Lucy loves it! – more indie boy band/ pop vibes/ not techno.
Demon’s Galore loves it! – more traditional band-band. Guitars!
Everyone loves it! – 2.5 words: shit’s ACE.

***DISCLAIMER: these aren’t the only discos that are going on – they are just the ones that stand out.

://ABOUT BLANK – Bron loves it!

This is the one we’ve been waiting for. 48-hour party people rejoice! Homopatik are celebrating their birthday, the ://about blank garden is opening and the celebrations will last three nights and the better part of two days. It’s all a bit TOO MUCH (in a really really good way). Celebrating their 3rd bday (we think?!), Homopatik has grown into one of Berlin’s most-loved parties – and for good reason to – what’s not to love about running amuck in giant adults playground (the extensive garden is wild), with lots of musical feel good (plenty of house and disco) and a serve debauchery on the side? As always, no line-up will be announced in advance however regulars will have an idea of who to expect, along with the obvious, founder and provider of epic-times, Mr. Ties. In short – dancing, al fresco vibes and a damn good time.

Upstairs, Ron Morelli will play his second set for ze nacht/tag/nacht b2b with Pan’s Lee Gamble, alongside Joy O, Ryan Elliott, Evan Baggs and ja, more. As always, there’s potential for clocking some serious hours within these hallowed walls – keep hydrated yo.

MARTIN-GROPIUS BAU – Everybody loves it!

Arriving in the German capital this week is the David Bowie Exhibition – one of London’s Victoria and Albert Museum‘s  most successful exhibitions. Oh, hiya. Whether you’re a Bowie nerd or not (yet), this should be a great retrospective of one pretty influential artist, and one who given his years spent living here, is pretty significant to Berlin. We’re told this will be a “comprehensive audiovisual exhibition experience using multimedia technology at the most advanced technical level” with over 300 artifacts including “handwritten lyrics, original costumes, fashion, photography, film, music videos, set designs, Bowie’s own instruments and album artwork.” Bowie’s fans get ready to lose your shit. Opening Tuesday and running through to August 10 (open daily 10:00 – 20:00) you have plenty of time to check this out – get involved.

LIDODemons Galore loves it!

Hi yeah it’s Mike here from Demons Galore. Just wanted to let you know that the Dum Dum Girls are playing the always awesome Lido, Kreuzberg, next week in support of their amazing new record, Too True. Honest. DDM will be gracing us with their presence Wednesday 21st May from 21 hundred hours, and tickets are actually still available. However, you could also….

**Win tickets!**

What is also true (see what we did there?) is that the beautiful people at Greyzone Concerts are giving away a pair of tickets to anyone lucky enough to win one. HALLO! To win, simply email bron@lucyvstheglobe.com with the subject line DDM before the end of the weekend (that’s Sunday evening, despite what those still in Berghain or ://about blank may argue). Viel Glück!

About BRON

Bron writes on all things techno. If there's a party at the club, she is probably there - with fiddy and all the gang. She also likes gluten free bread (because she can't eat wheat) and wine.
