I have asked my mate Bron to give us a round-up of what’s going on in Berlin each week. Allowing us all to machen die Party. I’m not very techno-techno-techno – but Berlin is, and so is your mate Bron. Each event is either highlighted with a:
Bron loves it! – more electronic, than not.
Lucy loves it! – more indie boy band/ pop vibes/ not techno.
Everyone loves it! – 2.5 words: shit’s ACE.
We have moved What’s Up Weekend to Thursday, as all this weekend disco really puts us on the back foot for a Wednesday deadline. So here are your go-to’s for the week ahead.
**DISCLAIMER: these aren’t the only discos that are going on – they are just the ones that stand out.

FRIDAY
PANORAMA BAR – Bron loves it, naturally going
Despite this being his adopted home town, you’ll only get the chance to see Levon Vincent a handful of times a year in Berlin and I’m about 95% certain that’s only ever at Berghain or Pbar. If the great man PLUS scarcity tickles your fancy, a classic Pbar on a Freitag session is your ticket this week with Herr Vincent making his third appearance at the 10243 main player tonight. Kicking off your weekend in the finest of forms, he’s joined by the ever-intriguing Madteo, Milton Bradley and Efdemin. Pack your sunglasses, you’ll want to stay ’til stumps.
PRINCE CHARLES – Everybody loves it!
Celebrating the release of their first label compilation out next week, Berlin/London collective Greco-Roman are throwing a party at Prince Charles and have invited a handful of featuring artists and label mates along for the ride. With Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Roosevelt (live), Full Nelson, Baron Castle and Greco-Roman Soundsystem on board all signs are pointing to bucketloads of feel good, which is how all weekend starters should be. There’s also promise of a Jamaican BBQ which is sending my Rastafarian tastebuds into a frenzy. Get fed, get funky on the d floor. It’s a win-win.

FRIDAY
KRAKE FESTIVAL (FRI – SUN) – Bron loves it! Would go to it all if there was more of her to go around.
Krake Festival continues, and damn they’re throwing some nice parties to wind things up. Friday sees their main festival venue, Suicide Circus, in full swing with a menu du jour of solid techno delights c/o hemlock boss Untold, 50weapons’ Phon.o (live), Dasha Rush (doing an experimental live set) and local Bill Youngman (also live), alongside visuals from THE 29NOVFILMS. The unique offerings kick on in the same venue the next night with a midnight ambient set from Fennesz to open and an impressive bill to follow incl. Dopplereffekt (doing a live AV show), Frank Bretschneider (also flying the live AV flag), Traversable Wormhole (live) DJ Flush and even more. The icing on the Kuchen comes on Sonntag, with heavenly open air gem Kiekebusch playing host to one hell of closing party with Nathan Fake (live), Max Cooper, I-F and stroboscopic artefacts’ Dadub (flirting with a dub midtempo set) and viel mehr, making the trip to Brandenburg more than worth it. If all these events make you cream your jeans you’d be wise to purchase a festival pass.

SATURDAY
BERGHAIN/PANORAMA BAR (SAT – SUN) – Bron loves it! Could very likely end up here at some point.
There’s no denying that this is one of those weekends where you could spend more hours in Berghain and Pbar than in your own bed. Embrace that. It’s Berlin. It’s a damn good time. It’s an Ostgut Ton nacht, downstairs and up. I’ll just leave this here – Boris, Fiedel, Shed (live), Ben Klock, Ryan Elliott, Marcel Fengler, Norman Nodge, Answer Code Request, Barker & Baumecker (live) on the main floor. Soundstream, Nick Höppner, Scuba in der Garten (pack your Sonnenbrillen again). Tama Sumo, Tobias. (live), Steffi, Virginia in Pbar. Book Monday off work. YOLO.

SUNDAY
RUMMELSBURG – Bron loves it! Going, more than a little bit excited.
In a city where pre-planning club tickets is rarely a thang, it’s surely some indication of a great party when credible clubbing enthusiasts buy tickets to an event AND more than a month out. Hell I’ve even heard of punters flying in for this one. There’s a ridiculous roll call on Facebook. Good god this should be one hell of a summery fling this Sonntag at Rummelsburg. Innervisions and Watergate are presenting ‘Lost in a Moment’ with a ridiculous mix of drawcards, both label mates and friends, including Jamie xx, Ry & Frank Wiedemann present “The Howling” LIVE, Dixon, Âme, Henrik Schwarz (live), Ben UFO, Recondite (live), Mr.Ties, Marcus Worgull and Matthias Meyer. The weather will be in the high 20s, the crowd will be full of happy, sexy people, hands will be raised at all the right moments. Shit doesn’t get any better.
ELSE – Bron loves it!
Love them or hate them, Claude VonStroke and his Dirtybird crew know how to make the party and sunny daytime settings might be when they’re at their very best. This Sonntag, jump all over that vibe at Else, Renate’s open air venture just across the Elsenbrücke on the southside of the Spree. Joining the main man are Zombie Disco Squad, Christian Martin, Justin Jay and Sacha Robotti. Doors at midday, keep things kicking past 10pm at Renate.
