With both Lucy & Bron back on home turf in March, we’ve decided it only makes sense to bring Melbourne to the world, and feature a few parties we’re excited about back here. In Melb? Join us and say Hallo! Can’t make it? There’s still a smorgasbord on in the DE. A big s/o to our Melb correspondent Emelyne Khor for keeping us in the loop.
In keeping with the Australiana theme, we’re excited to have Mornington Peninsula-based, Selwyns Fault Rosé back this week, bringing What’s Up Weekend (and delicious rosé) to the people. AND as an added bonus…. drink this elixir of life FOR FREE. We’re giving away 1 x bottle of Selwyns Fault 2013. To win(e), email email@example.com by 12pm (Berlin time) Thurs 27th March. Totes einfach.
Intercontinental wein kisses! X
Below are some of the events we are recommending for the week ahead in Berlin & Melbourne. Each of them is either highlighted with a:
Bron loves it! – more electronic, than not.
Lucy loves it! – more indie boy band/ pop vibes/ not techno.
Everyone loves it! – 2.5 words: shit’s ACE.
DE – one for the Berlin massive
AU – get around it Melbourne
***DISCLAIMER: these aren’t the only discos that are going on – they are just the ones that stand out.
PRINCE CHARLES (DE) – Everybody loves it!
Admittedly 100% neu to the sounds of Black Cracker, we’re quickly getting around this Berlin-based producer/lyricist who comes from the same court as Cakes da Killa, Zebra Katz and Le1f. And tonight – Prince Charles with local mates Muschi Kreuzberg play host to the release party for ‘Poster Boy’, Mr. Cracker’s new LP. Get around that! He’ll be joined by a live band, bucketloads of DJs (incl. PLANNINGTOROCK, Tokyo Hands, Stimulus and lots more) and a live visuals from Pussykrew.
://ABOUT BLANK (DE) – Bron loves it!
Don your finest party shoes, it’s time for your monthly hit of Homopatik. This round, it’s a 22 hour affair (you’ll need to wait for May for the next extended number – 72 hours we think!) and as per usual, should be simply a great party lead by Mr. Ties and co with a happy, house & disco vibe. Kicking off at midnight and running until 10pm (Sat).
Also worth checking out:
SECRET PARK LOCATION (AU) – Bron loves it!
This has to be one of the better combos I’ve seen in a long time – day party (bitte schön), free, a selection of tasty local selectors and BYO. It’s almost too good to be true, which all the party people seem to realise with a roll call of 1,500+ and rising. Hosted by local party crews Move Your Feet & Wax’o Paradiso, ‘Labyrinth Party’ will kick off at 1pm and last a cruisey 12 hours. It’ll be in a park, somewhere (we have no idea when this gets announced – keep an eye on their event page), with tunes provided by Tornado Wallace, Fantastic Man, Andy Hart and more. Past events were apparently dripping in vibes, we’re in.
THE OLD ROYAL WOMEN’S HOSPITAL MORGUE (AU) – Bron loves it!
This one had as at ‘morgue’. Wait, what? Continuing with the Berlin-Melbs theme, Billion Underground are putting on ‘Black #04’, with two DE natives and Tresor residents, Krenzlin and 88uw, taking to über ‘das ist so Berlin’-ish abandoned space just outside ze CBD.. Kooky venue aside, this should be a nice chance to check out two of Tresor’s newer regulars and get around some banging techno. With support from locals Lorenzo, Gene Hoffmann, Lost Few & Van Diemen, this all kicks off at 10pm.
Also worth checking out:
CORNER HOTEL (AU) – Baths (live) – MEHR INFOS
LIBERTY SOCIAL (AU) – The Operatives and club ESC present Morri$ – MEHR INFOS
STATTBAD (DE) – Genius of Time (live), Lakuti, Young Marco, Smallpeople, Midnight Operator – MEHR INFOS
SAMSTAG – SONNTAG
BERGHAIN / PANORAMA BAR (DE) – Bron loves it!
Want to party for 24+ hours with one of the best looking crowds in Berlin? This is the one. The beautiful people will be out this wochenende for one of Berghain’s most popular nights ℅ of the Innervisions crew. Taking things überall, this round will see head honchos Dixon & Ame joined in Pbar by Marcus Worgull, Mr. Ties, Omar S and more. Downstairs, balance out the euphoric vibe with some a little meatier from Surgeon, Function, Shackleton (live), Ben Klock, Gerd Janson and in his main floor debut, Mano Le Tough. Brace yourself – this will be a hecktisch one.
