MS DOCKVILLE ’13: Camels & Lions’ Top 5

Internet – HAVE YOU MET NICOLAS? You probably have, you just don’t know it yet. Nicolas is a wearer of many different internet hats. by day you will find him graphic’ing your designs, and by “free time” you will find him doing one of a handful of things:

  1. Running his own very cool blog Camels & Lions
  2. Operating as a contributing editor for our mates over at Nordic by Nature’s blog and HEY.
  3. Doing a radio-show on called Hand aufs Herz

And I thought I was pretty busy…

When Nicolas isn’t doing like a 1000-million different music things at once he is probably complaining about how hot/ rainy it is in Hamburg….because those Hamburgers are never content with anything weather related, eating the chocolate off strangers cappuccinos (probably yours, watch your cup), trying to figure out if orange trousers are obnoxious or fashion forward and trimming his beard – because one must keep it neat, yet rugged.

This year Nordic by Nature’s very own Steffi von Kannerman and Lucy vs. the Globe’s femme of sass (me, obviously) are off to Dockville. We are partnering up – not just with each other – but with the 25h hotel. Getting you all the good bits from the 2 day long musical extravaganza in Hamburg, the town famed for Fischbrötchen, prostitutes and that one time the Beatles visited.

As a result – I have asked some of our favourite Knödels to give us recommendations of their top 5 acts heading to Dockville festival. Say a firm and fast “guten Tag, Schatzi” to Nicolas from Camels & Lions. This is the first of four installments for what is better known as “Our Top 4 Deutschers at Dockville“.

Get all over and in between them.

Electronic music with a strong songwriting from Denmark. I saw them last year on Dockville, rocking the crowd, having a great time. The presence of Esben and Pernille on stage is pretty lovely, energetic and honest, too.

Fenster is an amazing band with members from Berlin and NY. Their melodic soundscapes and catchy melodies are fascinating. I also have to check if the ironing board is on stage again.

Arthur Beatrice is kind of cheesy pop music, but somehow i like the atmosphere in the songs and the voice of Ella Girardot is catching me. Interesting band.

I saw Lizzy and Max at Reeperbahnfestival last year on stage in front of maybe 100 other people. Very cool and likable dudes. I want to see them again on a bigger stage.

I always missed MØ on stage and hope this time I get the chance. Nothing more to say to MØ. One of the best danish newcomer over the last 2 years.
