Fancy heading to an island on the Ostsee to party on an abandoned third reich beach resort to a soundtrack of prime house and techno? Ummm. Her Damit 2015 is coming and we’re more than a little bit excited about kicking off our festival season with this beautiful three day affair.
Set on the German island of Rügen, Her Damit specifically takes places at Prora, a gigantic resort complex with a significant history. Originally designed as a 20,000 bed resort during the Third Reich, Hitler’s dream resort never opened and went on to be used as a post-war base for the Soviet Army, then laid abandoned for years. Fast forward to 2015 and Her Damit will be taking over the in-and-outside of this colossal structure and it’s surrounding beach, dunes and forest – for a weekend of dancing, adventure, chilling, swimming (maybe), epic sunrises over the sea (see above), SO MUCH FRESH AIR and giving this beautiful part of Deutschland a new, positive chapter to it’s history.
Lucky for us/you, we’re all invited.
On top of their out of the ordinary setting, there’s a close to perfekt line-up, with a mix of house and techno names from both the DE and beyond. Levon Vincent, Rødhåd, Roman Flügel, Marcel Fengler, tINI, Mike Huckaby, ItaloJohnson, Oliver Deutschmann, Moomin, Oskar Offermann & Edward, Alex.Do, Dario Zenker, The Analogue Cops, Dan Shake, Christian Löffler, Henning Baer, FJAAK, Job Jobse + so many more are all on board (and we’re told it’s still growing), while party crews involved include: Uebel & Gefährlich, Uncanny Valley, Flux, Lossless, Aura Karma Alles and Paralell. I’ve got jitters just writing about it.
Other essential infos:
DATES: 8 – 10. May 2015
LOCATION: Prora, Rügen. This is in the very north of German, on the Ostsee. Yes – actual sea!
TRAVEL: Praise Deutschland’s rail network – as even a slightly more hard-to-reach location like Prora is manageable via a super schön train journey. The Bahn will take you right to the door of the festival (really – we’re talking a max 500m walk to the front gate) – and a return Ostsee ticket will only set you back 39€ (when you book together with 2 freunde or more). The festival also offers busses.
ACCOM: On site camping and hostel beds are available, or stay in the nearest town. We’d recommend the on-site options, and if you stay in the hostel you’ll actually be within the colossal ‘resort’ structure. We assume the hostel beds are filling fast – you’ll want to be looking into that asap. Over here.
OH YEAH! Fancy all of this for FREE? To really get those summer festival feelings cracking, the Her Damit crew have very kindly given us 2 x 2 festival passes to give away. It’s a pretty incredible deal, with each ticket covering all three days AND on-site camping. Hallöööchen.
