Hihi internet, have you met Liam? If you’ve spent time at one of many UK festivals this summer or kick about Leeds, there’s high chance that’s a yes. For the uninitiated, you’ll find Liam Wachs with fingers in more pies than most from curating your electronic selections at Beacons Festival to producing and DJing, as one half of Aartekt. The duo get busy on the reg with a residency at Flux, and also featured on Ruede Hagelstein’s Watergate mix earlier this year.
To top it all off you’ll find Liam showcasing the epicurean within the disc jock via DJ Diner and sporting what seems to be one of the best festival wardrobes going round – most of us can only dream of pulling off a leotard and disco fist salute with the same grace. There’s killing it, and then there’s KILLING IT.
To set the scene – this September, Lucy vs. the Globe’s disco factor (that’s your mate, Bron), is Croatia bound for a final summer fling of sun, beach, boats and sweet beats at the wonderful Dimensions Festival. With a lengthy and delicious line-up, we have asked a handful of participating playas to help us break it down and get us their top 5 artists heading to the festival this year.
So – let’s get on with it. Say Zdravo to Liam! This is the first installment of Our Top Dimensions Playas Top 5.
Simply put, Tony Allen is one of the greatest drummers of all time. He was the director of Fela Kuti’s band for 11 years and is widely credited as one of the creators of Afrobeat music. A must see!
Last year Machinedrum was one of the highlights of the festival for me. His unique sound basically steamrolled me and everyone else in that outside the fort stage for one magical hour. Expect to see me at the front going mental for his set this year.
Prosumer eats, breaths and lives music. He has worked at Hardwax for over a decade and has a record collection to die for. In my opinion he is one of the best DJs in the world and I wouldn’t miss this shorts wearing former Panorama Bar resident for anything.
All round great DJ and owner of his own platform for release, Novel Sounds. Never lets the crowd down.
Locked Groove has fast become a household name in house & techno. His dedication to creating a true and legitimate sound has shone through over the last two years and his years of record shop experience has turned him into a seriously respectable DJ. Expect a very exciting set in The Ballroom on the Saturday night!
Get all over Liam and co at Dimensions:
Within the grounds of Fort Punta Christo, catch Liam doing his Aartekt thing for the Flux takeover in Noah’s Ballroom, 3.30am-5.00am on Saturday. For all sorts of sunshine vibes, you should also jump onboard the Flux Boat Party, 16:15 – 19:15, on Thursday. Anddddd… if an early-bird and on site pre-festival, you might also catch Liam via a few cheeky beach-side sets at Pacino’s Beach Bar.
