Primavera Sound is happening this May / June and it might just be the most exciting line-up we’ve seen this year. We’re going, we’re excited and we reckon you (hiya!) should join us too.
Now in it’s 17th year, Primavera takes at Barcelona’s Parc del Forum as well as Porto, Portugal each start of Summer with a genre-hopping line-up of big names through to locals across 5 days and nights. Paired with one of Europe’s most beautiful and vibey cities, start-of-summer excitement and a kinda perfect beachside setting, as far as festivals go Primavera is a must-do.
Here are 5 reasons you should drop everything and get to Primavera’s Barcelona edition this end of May:
1. ER – THIS LINE-UP
There’s something for everyone amongst this bananas line-up & we’re getting extra giddy for a round of nostalgic feels from a whole lot of acts we haven’t caught in years. Really when did you last see anything to rival this extravaganza:

(Chk Chk Chk), Abdulla Rashim, Angel Olsen, Avalon Emerson, Ben UFO, Bon Iver, Broken Social Scene, Dixon, DJ Dustin, Fatima Yamaha, Flying Lotus, Glass Animals, John Talabot, Joy Orbison, King Krule, Local Natives, Mac DeMarco, The Magnetic Fields, Matrixxman, Metronomy, Michael Mayer, Miguel, Operators, Pearson Sound, Pender Street Steppers, Polar Inertia, Pond, Recondite, Run The Jewels, Saint Etienne AND SO SO MANY MORE. Discover the full line-up here.
2. DAY TICKETS ARE STILL AVAILABLE !
So while the full festival pass is ausverkauft, you’ll find day tickers still available over here. Which is actually a pretty great option if you fancy mixing up your Primavera experience with exploring Barcelona (see below).
Additionally, marketplaces like Redkt would be worth keeping an eye on for resales OR for the next level experience for those with interest in music and/or festival industry, Primavera Pro tickets are also still available.
3. BONUS (FREE) EXTRAS
Want more and/or missing a ticket for the duration of the festival? Get all in up and around a series of free events taking place during the festival. This includes the opening day on Wednesday 1st June in Parc del Fòrum, with several national and international bands, incl. Saint Etienne, Anímic’s and Local Natives, live and totally free of charge in the early evening.
Meanwhile Primavera al Raval will take over the heart of the city with a series of concerts taking place from Friday 2nd June to Sunday 4th June in the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB), featuring The Make-Up, !!! (Chk Chk Chk), Slim Cessna’s Auto Club and loads more.
Free thangs – yes!
4. BARCELONA – ALL OF IT
With an eclectic mix of Catalan and Spanish culture, incredible weather, a beachside location, beautiful people, beautiful architecture, an amazing food (we’re looking at you – tapas!) & drink scene, vibey nightlife and great shops for days – as far as cities go, locations don’t get much better than Spain’s second largest city. Party by day/night and eat, drink, shop, wander, sunbake to your heart’s content in between. Life’s tough!
5. HIGH CHANCE OF SUMMER TEMPS / VIBES
The chances of these 5 days being really sunny and warm are really really good. COME AT US SUNSHINE FEELS.
Primavera Sound Barcelona will take place from May 31st to June 4th.
